Well the appointment went really really well - first off I had my dildocam scan and the consultant measureed my uterus and ovaries to ensure that they were not either under-developed or inflamed.
Then we went into his office and discussed the various treatments that were available and how much each treatment would cost - we were told that G would almost certainly have usable sperm that could be extracted by needle - but after we left G said that he didn't really fancy the needle and he's comfortable with using a donor, so we will continue down that route We discussed egg share and the implecations of this, we filled a load of forms in and were given more to read and sign at home, as well as a list of blood tests that I need to have done as the last lot I had were over 6 months ago, so they all need to be repeated - I'm hoping that I can get the GP to do them all again.
We then went in to see the counceller and had a chat to her about the choices we have and the implecation our choices may have on us and our future child / children.
It was totally different to Sheffield - very relaxed and friendly - no feeling of being rushed. At Sheffield we were in and out in 5 minutes after being made to wait for 30 mins +, but here we were seen on time and were out just before 4pm - so just short of 2hrs in there.
I am now waiting for a letter from the clinic explaining to my GP the tests that I need to have done, and to get those results back, in the mean time I need to ensure that my FSH levels are low enough to get accepted on the egg donor scheme, then I will be matched to a recipient at the same time as G being matched to a donor, and then we will be told when we are ready to start treatment.
